QCRI summer 2017 internship applications open
The Qatar Computing Research Institute, part of Hamad bin Khalifa University, has announced that applications for its summer internship program have opened.
The internships are being offered to undergraduate students who are pursuing a degree in computing. The 2017 program starts on May 7 and runs until June 22.
Forty interns selected from more than 100 applicants were involved in QCRI’s internship program last summer.
Interns at QCRI are given the opportunity to work with specialists on research and development projects in Arabic language technologies, data analytics, social computing, cyber security and distributed systems.
Dr. Eman Fituri, QCRI’s Director of Educational Initiatives, said the internship program had gained popularity since it launched in 2012.
“Our program offers a fantastic opportunity to gain experience working with top computing research scientists,” Dr. Fituri said.
“Our interns will explore exciting areas of scientific research, and have hands-on research experience working on QCRI’s advanced projects.”
Dr. Fituri said arrangements are being made to cater for Qatar University students, whose schedules are different from other universities in Qatar.
Some of QCRI’s previous interns have gone on to co-author major research papers and win awards.
Students are invited to apply here before March 31.
